Nesrine gelingt es scheinbar mühelos, Einflüsse aus Jazz und Klassik mit Soul und Arabisch-Andalusischen Elementen auf äußerst kunstvolle Art und Weise zu verbinden, wobei die Summe ihrer individuellen und verschiedenartigen musikalischen Erfahrungen erkennbar den Ausschlag gibt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist hierbei Nesrine Belmokh, Sängerin und Herz von Nesrine mit französisch-algerischer Abstammung, die mit legendären Dirigenten wie Lorin Maazel und Daniel Barenboim zusammengearbeitet hat und mit Cirque du Soleil auf internationalen Tourneen aufgetreten ist. Mit verletzlicher, mal sonorer Stimme und ihrem virtuos-charismatischen Cellospiel entführt sie uns leichtfüssig in ferne Klang-Welten.

Mit ihrer Musik zwischen traditioneller arabischer Musik, World, Jazz und Pop trifft Nesrine einen Nerv unserer Zeit. Sie vereint die gesamte Musikwelt des Mittelmeers, von Nordafrika bis Südeuropa. Mit einnehmender Bühnenpräsenz und auf Basis einer klassischen Ausbildung. Das klassische Cello-Handwerk ist der Ausgangspunkt der musikalischen Reise von Nesrine. Daniel Barenboim holte sie in sein weltbekanntes „East Western Divan Orchestra“, Lorin Maazel berief sie in das von ihm geleitete Orchester der Oper in Valencia. Dort arbeitete sie unter anderem eng mit Placido Domingo. Sie forscht mit ihren eigenen Kompositionen nach ihren weit gefächerten musikalischen und kulturellen Wurzeln aus Algerien, der Heimat ihrer Familie, Frankreich, dem Land ihrer Kindheit und Jugend und ihrer aktuellen Heimat Valencia – einem kulturellen Schmelztiegel zwischen Ost und West. In Arabischer und Englischer Sprache entstehen so Songs voller Anmut und Emotionalität, die „die Schönheit der Welt hörbar machen“, wie es der französische Musiker und Produzent André Manoukian treffend auf den Punkt bringt.“

The story of the singer and cellist Nesrine or “NES”, as she is otherwise known, reads like a modern fairy tale in a boundless musical world. Her debut album “Ahlam” (“Dream” in Arabic) was released in 2018 on the label ACT, and is the testimony that she wins the hearts of audiences and critics all over Europe. The London Times voted it `best of the year ́, and it remained top of the World Music Charts Europe Critics’ Leaderboard for many months. It has appeared on national television in several European countries and garnered rave reviews from media such as Le Monde, The Guardian, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allge-meine Zeitung among others. The album tour has taken Nesrine to festivals and concert halls in her adopted country of Spain, classical concert houses such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Konzerthaus Berlin, and to perform in countless other venues across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Romania. All this with her debut album and within less than a year.

With influences from pop, jazz and north african music, Nesrine truly hits the `zeitgeist ́ of ourtime. She unites the entire musical world of the Mediterranean, from Algeria to Southern Europe, with an engaging stage presence built upon the strong foundation of a classical education. The cello is the origin of the musical journey: Daniel Barenboim brought her to play in his world- famous “East Western Divan Orchestra”, and Lorin Maazel appointed her to the opera orchestra he directed in Valencia. Nesrine has worked closely with Placido Domingo.

In addition to classical work, Nesrine also takes `excursions ́ to other musical realms. She was the protagonist of the Cirque du Soleil show “Amaluna”, and through her own compositions explores her musical and cultural roots from Algeria, the home of her family, France, the country of her childhood and youth, and her current home Valencia, Spain. Nesrine is a cultural allegory between East and West. Sung in a mix of Arabic, English, and French, the songs are full of grace and poetry that, as French musician, André Manoukian rightly describes it, “make the beauty of the world audible”.
