tribute to the great late arnette cobb

gary wiggins (sax) serge rohoerson (p) daryl taylor (b) didier dorise (dr)
Just after the end of WWII the Jazz-Club Caveau de la Huchette open its doors in the Latin Quarter section of Paris near the Notre Dame and until this day, more than 60 years later, has never close it’s doors not one night while featuring a jazz band and attracting dancers and jazz lovers seven nights a week. Gary Wiggins has performed many nights, since the mid nineties, in the Caveau de la Hutchette along with Didier Dorise on drums whose family own the Caveau de la Huchette and Serge Rahoerson on piano and has on several occasions presented this special musical atmosphere in concert through out France. Now these French and American cultural diplomats bring music from the oldest jazz club in Europe to Berlin and together they pay tribute to the big swinging tenor sax of a generation, that has mostly passed on and music that has always been popular in Paris since the end of WW2.

Arnett Cobb (10. August 1918 als Arnette Cleophus Cobbs in Houston/Texas; † 24. März 1989) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Saxophonist. 1973 erhielt er eine Grammy-Nominierung als bester Jazz-Instrumentalist. Cobb spielte zunächst Klavier und Violine und später Tenorsaxophon. Arnett Cobb’s robuste Spielweise erinnert an Herschel Evans und Illinois Jacquet.

Here is a Trailer to this concert and a great true story of "Detroit" Gary Wiggins with Legend Arnett.
